What is Emotional Freedom Techniques?
EFT was developed by Gary Craig, a Stanford University trained engineer, who worked as a Personal Performance Coach interested in resolving emotional blocks to success. He developed EFT in the early 90s. It's now in it's 17th year of research.
EFT is a somatic (body) and talking technique which allows us to unblock or release difficult and stressful emotions from the body.
By tapping on the acupressure points in the top half of the body, we connect to the amygdala - the stress centre in the brain, and the hippocampus - the memory centre in the brain, and brings a calming effect. It also creates a calming effect on cortisol - the stress hormone.
By trying to understand where the feelings are held in the body, tapping on the points and utilising your language, we are able to connect with the body, and as we reduce the stress around those feelings, we can also unblock or release traumatic or emotional events, leaving us able to have control over that memory or event, rather than a continue stress response.
EFT is a technique to help you to connect back to your body, bringing awareness and calm to your thoughts and memories in order for you to find clarity and regain safety. Helping you to process and move forward.
Guided Breathwork
Charlotte is currently a Level 2 breathwork teacher, and has trained with the internationally accredited Blissful Breath Academy in Ireland. She is also under the mentorship programme - her training is ongoing.
The academy’s mission is simple - better breathing for everyone.
During a guided breathwork session, Charlotte will prepare you for the session, to help to bring your body and mind to the session and start to help you to move away from the distractions of everyday life.
She will explain and expertly guide you through different breathwork techniques, that are right for you or the group you are with, to help you to consciously bring your attention to your breath.
Ice Baths
Want to face the chaos of the ice bath - Charlotte will first take you through a blissful breathwork session, then following a full explanation of how it works, plenty of group ‘horse stance’, you will head out to the ice bath - this is always optional, you must always listen to your body. If you choose to go in Charlotte will guide you through finding your calm within the chaos. We go in for a good time - to use the ice as a force of good in our lives - we are not in for a long time.
"Another fantastic self care Sunday with Charlotte! Charlotte is a very skilled breathwork practitioner, and knows exactly how to guide and support everyone. Her natural warmth and compassion allows you to relax and let go during the breathwork and equally empowers you to step in to the ice bath. I cannot recommend self care Sundays enough and would absolutely encourage everyone to give it a go and feel the benefits!"

“I want to help people”, you said during one of our conversations, “and I now know how. I have a vision”. The vision was to help people to better themselves as human beings through delivering guided breathwork. And you set off doing that and are now a Level 2 Breathwork Teacher. And then you experienced EFT and its benefits; I knew it wouldn’t be long until you embarked on a journey to add it to your skillset. And you did! And finally, the day came when I and other honoured beings were able to take part in your first Group Tapping & Breathwork Circle.
“How was it?”, you ask. It was nothing less than beautifully delivered. The setting was peaceful, relaxed, welcoming and safe. The delivery was done in a way that everyone had an opportunity to speak during the EFT part (if they so wished) without being judged, to acknowledge their emotions, to feel their feelings, and to share with all (again, if they so wished). The breathwork part was very powerful. Your voice was kind yet assertive, and the background music was beautiful and at a volume that allowed me to clearly hear your guidance. I liked that we had the opportunity to chat to others at the end. On a personal level, I felt respected, heard, acknowledged, and supported all the way. I left with open wounds (they needed to be opened) but also with the clarity needed to heal them. And for that, I am very grateful to you.”

“Just wanted to say thank you again for Friday night’s breathwork session. I have never felt so relaxed! It was really nice to experience it for a longer period than I usually do, my arms/legs went completely still and I think I could have stayed there all night. Amazing session, felt so comfortable and managed a full night’s sleep afterwards.”

Cons: Can’t think of anything…”

“A wonderful experience yesterday at the day retreat. Breathing, Ice-bath, mindful walk and Yoga.
Charlotte’s approach is always caring and mindful to everyone’s needs, without judgement.
We started off with a fantastic breathing session and then we bravely conquered the ice-bath, we were then rewarded with a lovely mindful walk taking in the sounds and sights of nature in silence. To finish off the day we had a Restorative Yoga session. If you get a chance to join in the next one, I cannot recommend it enough. Oh! and also a delicious healthy lunch!”
